CharHaven works to provide a safer, inclusive, and creative space for character design enthusiasts, worldbuilders, writers, and artists. No online service can eliminate every risk, so clear boundaries, reporting tools, and proportionate enforcement all matter.

03 Age-Appropriate Content Standards

CharHaven is an 18+ platform. Content shared on the platform must follow these rating categories:

People under 18 may not create or use a CharHaven account. Mature content is also filtered, blurred, and age-gated by default; authenticated adult users must explicitly consent before viewing it. All mature content remains subject to the prohibited content rules below.

04 Prohibited Content — Zero Tolerance

The following content is strictly prohibited on CharHaven, regardless of how it is tagged or where it is posted. Credible findings may result in immediate restriction or permanent account termination and may be escalated to relevant authorities when required or appropriate under applicable law:

05 Behavioral Standards

All members are expected to:

• Treat other members with respect and dignity in all interactions.
• Not engage in harassment, stalking, bullying, or intimidation.
• Respect other creators' intellectual property and provide proper credit.
• Not impersonate other users, staff, or public figures.
• Report violations rather than engaging in vigilante moderation.
• Not attempt to circumvent content filters, age gates, or safety systems.
• Not use automation, scraping, exploits, alt-account abuse, or deceptive growth tactics to manipulate platform systems or visibility.

06 Platform Abuse, Fraud & Manipulation

Some conduct harms the reliability of CharHaven even when it is not posted as public content. The following is prohibited:

• Attempting to exploit bugs, bypass access controls, evade rate limits, or interfere with site security.
• Artificially inflating engagement, follows, donations, scores, shop activity, or event participation through scripts, alt accounts, or coordinated abuse.
• Scams, fraudulent commissions, phishing attempts, or false claims intended to obtain money, perks, or account access.

07 Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines:

1. Use the Report button on any character, image, post, comment, or user profile to file a report directly to our moderation team.
2. Email us at admin@charhaven.com for urgent safety concerns.
3. Copyright notices can be submitted via our Copyright Takedown Form.

Reports are triaged according to risk, available evidence, and urgency. Reporter identity is limited to authorized staff and is not shared with the reported user unless disclosure is required for law, safety, or a fair review process.

08 Enforcement Ladder

Violations are handled proportionally. We follow a progressive enforcement system:

CharHaven may skip enforcement levels for severe or urgent violations. Confirmed zero-tolerance content may result in immediate restriction or permanent termination, subject to evidence preservation, applicable law, and any review needed to avoid action against the wrong account.

09 Age Eligibility and Protecting Minors

CharHaven is restricted to adults, while still treating suspected underage access and exploitation as urgent safety matters:

• Users must be 18 years or older to create an account.
• Mature content is hidden by default and requires an authenticated adult account plus explicit opt-in to view. Registration uses birthdate attestation rather than government-ID verification.
• People under 18 may not create or use an account.
• Credible findings that an adult solicited or exploited a minor may result in permanent termination and escalation to relevant authorities when required or appropriate under applicable law.
• If suspected underage use is discovered, the account will be disabled promptly and associated data will be deleted or retained only as required for safety, evidence preservation, and applicable law.

10 Appeals Process

If you believe your content was removed or your account was actioned in error, you may submit an appeal by emailing admin@charhaven.com with:

• Your username
• The content or action in question
• Why you believe the action was incorrect

Appeals are reviewed as capacity allows, typically within 7 business days. Decisions on zero-tolerance violations, credible security abuse, or clearly unlawful content may be final.

11 Roleplay & Collaboration Ethics

CharHaven is built for creative collaboration, including roleplay. The following rules apply to all RP interactions:

• All roleplay participants must consent to the theme and content level before beginning a scene.
• Out-of-character (OOC) requests to stop, change direction, or modify content level must be respected immediately.
• Mature roleplay (18+) must only occur between eligible adult account holders who opted in and must be tagged appropriately.
• Using roleplay as a pretext for harassment, grooming, or boundary violations is a zero-tolerance offense.

12 AI-Generated Content Disclosure

• Content generated primarily by AI tools (text, images, or other media) must be clearly labeled as AI-generated when posted publicly.
• AI-assisted content (e.g., edited AI art, AI-drafted backstories that are significantly revised) does not require labeling but attribution is encouraged.
• AI-generated content must comply with all content standards, including the prohibited content rules (Section 04).

13 Commissions & Collaboration Standards

CharHaven facilitates creative commissions between users. The following guidelines apply:

• Commission terms, pricing, and timelines should be agreed upon before work begins.
• Deliberate scamming (accepting payment with no intent to deliver) is a bannable offense.
• Disputes between commissioners and artists should first be resolved between the parties. If unresolved, either party may contact moderation through the support form for review.
• CharHaven does not mediate financial disputes or process refunds between users. We may take enforcement action if fraud is confirmed.

14 Impersonation vs. Character Portrayal

To clarify the distinction between creative portrayal and harmful impersonation:

• Allowed: Portraying original fictional characters, licensed fictional characters (fan characters), and OC personas.
• Prohibited: Impersonating real people, other CharHaven users, or staff members in a manner intended to deceive.
• Prohibited: Creating accounts that mimic another user's username, avatar, or identity to confuse or harass.

15 Moderator Discretion

Not every harmful situation can be listed in advance. CharHaven moderators may remove content, restrict features, or take account action when behavior creates a clear safety risk, repeatedly disrupts the community, or undermines the integrity of the service, even if the conduct is not described word-for-word in a single guideline above.
