This technique makes them completely undetectable to sensory abilities but places an extreme physical strain on the body, requiring years of specialized physical training to survive.

In the chaotic years following the Quincy Invasion, the Research and Development Department experimented with crafting synthetic Zanpakuto utilizing fragments of shattered spirit ribbons. These weapons possess multiple sealed states but lack an active spirit, requiring the wielder to manually program spiritual directives.
