User Guide

1. Create your account and open your dashboard.
2. Create a character with a name; add images and lore when you are ready.
3. Create a world and link characters to organize your universe.

• Use Create Character from navbar or dashboard.
• Only a name is required. Add a summary and lore when they help your next scene.
• New characters are private until you choose Anyone with the link or Everyone.
• Attach images for visual context.
• Use the edit page anytime to update your profile.

You can start without an account in the free Character Sheet Builder. Copy or download your notes, or choose Save on this device for a seven-day browser copy. Restore my sheet fills empty answers from your most recent browser or tab copy; a continued sheet remains available in that tab for 30 minutes. To make a profile, choose Continue with my sheet, sign in, then Use my sheet. Review and Save the form. On a shared device, remove saved copies when you finish.

• Create worlds to group related characters and lore.
• Use Atlas and timeline tools for maps and history.
• Link or unlink characters directly from world management.

• Use search to find assets by caption or creator.
• Sort options: Newest, Most Liked, or Most Discussed.
• Hover preview: Hover any image to see like and comment counts.
• Lightbox tools: Click any image to view full-size with download, share, and zoom controls.
• Upload limits follow admin site configuration.

• Trending hashtags: The sidebar shows the top 8 trending tags from the past week.
• Share posts: Use the share button to copy a direct link or open your share sheet.
• Bookmark posts: Save posts for later and find them again on your Bookmarks page.
• Tabs: Switch between Community, Following, and For You feeds.

Long-form discussions organized by categories. Open the Forums.

• Topics: General Discussion, Character Critique, Worldbuilding, and four Minecraft topics: MC Builds & Creations, MC Server Discussion, MC Skins & Cosmetics and MC Roleplay.
• Create threads: Click "New Thread" to start a discussion.
• Reply & Quote: Reply to threads or quote specific posts.
• Pinned threads: Important threads are pinned by moderators.

• Use Feed for activity updates.
• Use Forums for long-form discussions.
• Use Global Chat, the chat button on every page, to open CharHaven Chat in a panel: your servers, channels, direct messages and the member list. You can also open CharHaven Chat in its own tab.
• Use Realms for live graphics chat.
• Check Events for community activities.

Use the Daily Quests page for daily objectives and the Season Rewards page for the current season reward track.

• Daily Quests: Each day you receive 3 rotating objectives with Haven Coin and season XP rewards.
• Claiming: Once a quest reaches 100%, use the claim button to collect rewards immediately.
• Season Progress: Season reward XP comes from quests and supported site activity throughout the month.
• Catch-up Claims: On the season rewards page, claiming a later unlocked tier also marks earlier unclaimed unlocked tiers on that track as collected.

CharHaven uses Haven Coins (HC) to power the cosmetic economy.

Earning Coins

• Earned, not sold: Haven Coins cannot be bought. You earn them by taking part, and supporters receive a monthly allowance. Your wallet is on the Haven Coins page.
• Daily bonus: Claim 2 HC a day from your dashboard, with extra coins at 7, 14, 30, 60 and 100-day streaks.
• Trivia & Gacha: Play free mini-games to earn coins.
• Navbar balance: Your HC balance is always visible in the top navigation.

Cosmetic Shop

• Ten categories: Profile Borders, Card Backgrounds, Chat Flair, Card Skins, Badges, Custom Titles, Emotes, Realm Decorations, Realm Backgrounds and Realm Presence Effects.
• Realm Shop: Room decorations, backgrounds, and character presence effects. Capacity boosts and featured-listing upgrades are retired from public sale.
• Rarity: Common → Uncommon → Rare → Epic → Legendary. Check each item's displayed price and destination before buying.

Equipping

• Browse and buy in the Haven Shop. Equippable cosmetics use one item per slot; use Equip or Unequip where offered.
• Owned emotes, Realm backgrounds, and decorations become available in their respective tools without a separate equip step.

Visit the Arcade to play and earn Haven Coins.

• Dozens of games, from quick puzzles to full arcade titles — Breakout, Tower Defense, Ludo, Werewolf, Rhythm Tap and more.
• No betting: Games never take a stake of your coins. The games that did (Coin Flip, Number Guess, Haven Slots and Blackjack) were retired in September 2026.
• Trivia: RP-themed questions. Earn 5/10/20 HC. Free to play.
• Daily Gacha: Two free draws a day, the same for every member. Every draw pays Haven Coins; rare, epic and legendary draws can also add a shop cosmetic.
• Arcade fairness: Some games validate impossible scores against session time so exploit attempts are rejected while normal close-to-threshold runs still pass.
• History: Last 10 games shown with results.

Collaborative scene writing inside worlds.

• RP Rooms: World owners create scenes/locations. Each is a writing space.
• Join: Select linked characters. Posts show your character's name and avatar.
• Post Types: Dialogue, Action, Narration, OOC.
• Modes: Freeform or Turn-based.
• Rewards: 1–3 HC per post (daily cap: 50 HC).

Connect your Minecraft account on the Minecraft page.

Linking Your Account

• Step 1: Sign in and open Minecraft. Enter your Java Edition username in Minecraft Identity.
• Step 2: Choose Link Account. The site resolves that username through the Minecraft profile service; this flow does not ask for an in-game code or prove ownership of the game account.
• Step 3: The linked name and skin can appear on your profile. Bedrock usernames are not supported by this linking flow.
• Unlink: Use Unlink Account on the Minecraft page.

Features

• Server Status: Live player count, MOTD, and server version.
• Leaderboards: Top players by XP, achievements, and play time.
• MC Trivia: Minecraft-themed trivia game in the Arcade.
• Forum: Four Minecraft topics for builds, servers, skins and roleplay.

Pixel-art style virtual rooms where characters walk, talk, and interact visually. Open Realms.

Getting Started

• Select Character: Choose one of your characters to represent you in the realm.
• Browse Realms: Filter by category, search, or sort by popularity.
• Enter: Click a realm card then hit "Enter Realm" to join.
• Create: Create custom realms with unique backgrounds and settings. Free: 10 rooms, Silver: 20, Gold: 30.

In-Realm Features

• Movement: Click on the canvas to move your character sprite. Drag your own character for precise placement.
• Chat: Real-time text chat with speech bubbles, whispers, @mentions, and /commands.
• Poses & Emotes: Change your character's pose or trigger emotes from the pose picker.
• Minimap: Navigate large realms with the interactive minimap.

Portals & Sub-Rooms

• Portal Doorways: Realm owners can create invisible clickable zones that teleport users to other realms. Perfect for multi-room builds (buildings, dungeons, towns).
• Visual Placement: Click "Draw Portal Area on Canvas" and drag a rectangle directly on the background to place portals visually — no manual coordinate entry needed.
• Invisible Portals: Uncheck "Show label" to hide the floating text. The hitbox remains active, so draw doors into your background art and overlay an invisible portal.
• Sub-Rooms: Create child rooms linked to a parent realm. Sub-rooms inherit security settings (password, visibility).
• Invite Codes: Every realm gets a unique 8-character code. Share /r/{code} for direct access.

Server Time

• UTC Clock: The navbar displays a live UTC server clock. All realm events and upcoming day/night cycles follow this centralized time.
• Consistency: No matter where you are geographically, everyone sees the same time — great for scheduling realm events.

Customize how CharHaven looks with presets, color pickers, and custom CSS on the Themes page.

• Presets: Choose from curated themes (Obsidian Dark, Haven Light, Ocean, Forest, etc.).
• Colors: Fine-tune individual background, border, text, and accent colors with color pickers.
• Custom CSS (Supporters): Write custom CSS to fully brand your experience. Supporter tier feature.
• Export/Import: Save your theme as a JSON file and share it with friends.
• Live Preview: Changes apply in real-time as you pick colors.

Haven Isle RPG

Open Haven Isle, sign in, and choose a saved character. This is the shared exploration game; custom Realm rooms and World roleplay threads are separate spaces.

• Use the map and marked exits to travel. Nearby NPC prompts offer dialogue and available quests.
• Character Studio changes the selected character's appearance. Review which choices are free and which require owned cosmetics.
• The Bag holds game items. Gathering and kitchen recipes use the game's ingredient, rank, and cooldown requirements.
• A claimed housing parcel includes a private cottage. Owners can arrange furniture and control visitor access; claiming a parcel uses Haven Coins. Check the displayed price and access settings before confirming.

Find artists or offer your talents in Commissions.

• Browse: View open commission slots from community artists.
• Artist Profile: Set up your commission page with examples, pricing, and availability.
• Direct payment: The artist and client arrange payment between themselves. CharHaven does not hold or process commission money and takes no fee.
• Communication: Use DMs to discuss commission details with artists.

CharHaven offers three tiers. Visit the Membership Plans page for current pricing and full details.

• Standard (Free): 5 characters, 3 worlds, and 10 images per character.
• Silver Supporter: Unlimited characters, Unlimited worlds, and 100 images per character.
• Gold Patron: Unlimited characters, Unlimited worlds, and 100 images per character.
• Member-profile CSS and site-wide custom theme CSS require Silver or Gold. Character owners can use the separate HTML/CSS character editor with a free account.
• Review all benefits and current prices on Membership. Monthly payments renew until cancelled with the payment provider; yearly access uses a one-time payment. Include the exact account message shown for your chosen plan. General tips do not activate membership or add Haven Coins.

Supported image uploads can receive ownership metadata, a hidden mark, and a light noise layer. Gallery controls and crawler rules discourage copying, but cannot prevent screenshots, all downloads, or AI training. Keep your original files and upload only art you have the right to use.

How It Works

• Adversarial Noise: A subtle, high-frequency "noise" pattern is added when an image is processed. It is almost invisible to people and is meant to make the image less useful to AI style-extraction models. It is a lighter, server-side measure, not Glaze or Nightshade, and it cannot guarantee that an image will never be used.
• Metadata Copyright: Uploaded JPEGs receive embedded IPTC copyright and ownership details, including an instruction that the image is not to be used for AI training.
• Invisible Watermark: PNG and WebP images carry a hidden ownership mark in their pixels. JPEG compression cannot keep a mark like that, so for JPEGs the ownership details live in the metadata above.
• Anti-Scrape CSS: On profile galleries, right-clicking to "Save image as..." and drag-and-drop dragging are heavily restricted through invisible CSS shields and JS listeners.
• Crawler controls: Crawler directives and access rules restrict some automated requests. They do not guarantee that public artwork cannot be copied.

What Art is Protected?

• Image processing: Supported upload paths apply protection during processing; the available layers depend on the file format and image size.
• Performance Friendly: Because this happens on our image-processing infrastructure behind the scenes, you do not need to pre-process your high-resolution images prior to uploading them.

CharHaven takes content safety seriously. All mature (18+) content is gated and blurred by default to protect all users.

How It Works

• Blur by default: Any character or image flagged as mature content appears blurred across the entire site — homepage, discover, gallery, search, and collections.
• 18+ Badge: Blurred content shows a clear "18+ Content" label overlay so you know what you're looking at.
• Click-through gate: Accessing a mature character profile requires you to be logged in, aged 18+, and have explicitly consented to viewing mature content.
• Profile-level access: Authorized adults who have opted in can view mature profiles with a content warning. A content label does not grant access to a private character.

Who Can See What

• Guests (not logged in): See blurred thumbnails only. Clicking through shows a gate page requiring sign-in.
• Minors (under 18): May not create or use a CharHaven account and cannot access mature character profiles.
• Adults (18+) without consent: See blurred thumbnails. Clicking shows a consent prompt to update preferences.
• Adults (18+) with consent: See blurred thumbnails on discovery surfaces; full content on character profiles with a mature content warning banner.

Managing Your Preferences

• Consent: You can enable mature content viewing from your Profile Settings.
• Birthdate: Your age is calculated from the birthdate on your account. Ensure it is accurate.
• Flagging content: If you are a character creator, you can mark your characters as mature content from the character edit page. Please flag appropriately — failure to do so may result in moderation action.
